Yes, this is normal! While plants are living and growing in the ground, they release oxygen and CO2 through photosynthesis and respiration. After the plant has been harvested and dried, photosynthesis stops, but respiration continues. As residual water is used by the buds, CO2 is released. The selective permeability of our film retains this gas and moisture in the pouch and causes it to ‘puff up’. There’s no need to remove this gas or reseal the pouch, as this environment will allow for a better cure.
Yes, we still recommend leaving ~25% of your pouch space empty for expansion to occur. Cut your film to create a pouch size that will account for this extra space.
If your existing processes include vacuum sealing, SafeVac acts as a direct replacement for typical vacuum storage films that are made for food – not flower. SafeVac is an ideal solution for producers with limited space during curing, storage, or transit.
Our bags are odor resistant. All Grove Bags films have high barrier properties that provide superior discretion, keeping you compliant at all times.
While these properties will keep outside odors from entering the bag, and most aromatics inside the bag from escaping, true odor proofing requires an active atmospheric modifier, like charcoal, to absorb aroma volatiles. Our bags contain no active atmospheric modifiers.
