Our Shell Grit is a fantastic source of quick release calcium for your plants. Being made of low density shells this source of calcium is extremely quick acting and perfect for a top dress / calcium deficiency.
This product however is not intended as a long term calcium source in a no-till environment due to its extremely quick breakdown time. We provide Oyster Shell Flour as our premium source of calcium (and Chitin) which takes approximately 9 months to completely degrade in the soil and is therefore more consistent. It is for this reason we recommend that Shell Grit not be used as a primary source of calcium due to how quickly you will need to replace it and potential lockout issues.
