pH Disclaimer:
Our products are designed for optimal pH balance, and in many cases, customers may not need to adjust the pH at all. However, this can depend on the initial water quality. If pH adjustment is necessary, we strongly recommend using potassium carbonate instead of potassium hydroxide for a pH up.
Here’s why potassium carbonate is preferable:
• Stability: It offers greater stability in nutrient solutions, crucial for calcium-rich formulas like ours.
• Avoids Calcium Precipitation: Potassium hydroxide can cause calcium to fall out of solution, which isn’t harmful but can result in sediment. Potassium carbonate doesn’t have this issue.
• Long-Term Efficacy: It maintains the balance necessary for optimal plant growth, ensuring long-term effectiveness of the nutrient solution.

Chelation optimises plant nutrition in hydroponic systems, and a key component of its effectiveness lies in the power of organic acids to chelate inorganic elements in the hydroponic solution.
Chelation is a process in which organic acids bind to inorganic nutrients, such as iron, manganese, zinc, and copper, forming stable complexes.
These complexes prevent inorganic elements from becoming immobilised or chemically unavailable to plants' roots. When inorganic elements are chelated by organic acids, they remain soluble and in a bioavailable form. This allows plants' roots to efficiently absorb all availability nutrients. Furthermore, the abundant organic acids in our EARTH & SEA ENZYMES™ concentrate offer additional benefits by promoting phloem loading, a vital process for aggressive nutrient transport in plants. Phloem loading refers to the movement of nutrients and sugars from the source tissues (such as leaves) to the sink tissues (such as developing fruits or roots) through the phloem vessels.
Organic acids play a significant role in facilitating phloem loading by increasing the osmotic potential within the phloem sieve tubes. These acids contribute to the creation of a concentration gradient that drives the movement of nutrients and sugars into the phloem. This active loading process allows for efficient distribution of these essential compounds to various plant tissues, supporting vigorous growth and development.
Phloem loading is a response to an optimised metabolic environment where primary and secondary systems can exceed typical limitations and form extensive root systems that interact with your substrate and support lush and fast growth rates. Our proprietary enzymes formulation catalyses chemical reactions involved in pH regulation, helping to maintain a stable pH environment. When the pH of the nutrient solution deviates from the optimal range our buffers respond by either releasing or absorbing hydrogen ions, depending on the needs of the system. This buffering action helps prevent drastic pH fluctuations, keeping the pH within the desired range.
