40% mono-silicic acid

Faster, stronger growth and
resistance to pests and pathogens:
silicon does it all...

Ultra fast acting silicon nutrient - for all plants in all settings
Scientifically proven effects:
Increased strength, growth rates and yield. Increased root mass, leaf size and brix content.
Improved resistance to pests, disease and environmental stress.

Works by:
Supporting natural plant growth and defences, and by improving nutrient and water usage.

Application rates:
0.3ml/10L weekly in solution and 0.5ml/L as a fortnightly foliar spray.

Environmental contribution:
Increases yield per unit input and can reduce or eliminate the need for fungicides and pesticides.

Extremely concentrated formulation dramatically reduces shipping weight, volume and packaging.

Grow-Genius mono-silicic is made in the UK with silicon from Scotland, minimising product miles.

GG mono is readily biodegradable: 95 % over 28 days (method: OECD Test Guideline 301F).

Scientific evaluation of stabilised mono-silicic acid:
The beneficial effect of stabilised mono-silicic acid on a variety of crops has been established for over a decade. You can read an excellent evaluation of the various types of silicon available to gardeners here, or jump straight to the summary table here.

NB: Grow-Genius mono uses new ethanol based technology that overcomes the concentration limitations that applied to the older stabilised monsilicics in the study.

Silicon and mono-silicic acid:

the missing link in plant nutrition and protection - for all gardeners.

Mono-silicic acid is the most effective form of silicon available to gardeners, and Grow-Genius 40% mono-silicic is the best value true mono available today.

Silicon is an important nutritional element for many organisms, including humans. In plants it provides physical reinforcement against insect and mould attacks on leaves and flowers, strengthens cell walls allowing faster growth, confers resistance against biological and environmental stress, and even allows plants to reduce water loss. You can grow plants without it, but they are healthier and more productive with silicon.

Some soils and peat, all coco coir, and most nutrients contain no silicon at all - so produce grown with them doesn't either. This can generate a vicious circle of relatively weak plants falling prey to insects and pathogens, which in turn creates stress, further weakening, and worsening health that needs pesticides and fungicides to manage. Adequate silicon levels can avoid this in most cases and even in extremes, can hugely reduce the number of applications of toxic chemicals required to achieve a successful harvest.

The physiological reinforcement that silicon provides not only prevents penetration by mould spores but literally wears out the mouthparts of pests; from mites to catapillars, ensuring dramatic reductions in pest control requirements both indoors and outdoors - which is helpful because silicon also allows bigger and sweeter fruit development with improved lifespan after picking, often achieved using a lot of extremely toxic chemicals.

There are many silicon supplements on the market today - but plants only take up silicon in the form of mono-silicic acids: individual silicon atoms surrounded by hydrogen and oxygen - and most silicon products contain silicates: long chains of silicon that root or microbe chemistry takes weeks or months to convert into mono-silicic acids that plants can use.

This is why stabilised mono-silicic acid is so effective: it is already in bioavailable form, meaning plants can access and use it immediately.

So choosing mono means less waste, and visibly faster results than with other forms of silicon. There are other stablised mono-silicic (aka orthosilicic / monosilicic) acids out there using different technologies, and nano-silicon is engineered to bypass uptake altogether.

No other form of silicon offers the same plant benefits that monsilicic delivers, and no other hydroponic or home and garden brand monosilicic currently matches the concentration rates and value of GG mono-silicic.

How to use Grow-Genius 40% mono-silicic acid (19% Si w/w)

For strength and yield increases, faster growth and stress resistance:
  • Apply weekly at 0.3 ml per 10L of water or nutrient solution.
  • Hand water or apply via irrigation system.
  • Use from seed germination or cutting propagation to a few weeks before harvest.

And:

To build defence against pests, mould and other fungal pathogens:

  • Apply fortnightly as a foliar spray at 0.5ml per litre of water.
  • With fruits and vegetables use from germination / propagation to just before harvest.
  • On species with dense or compact flowers, stop foliar application at early flowering, especially indoors. or in cold or damp weather.
  • Don't spray under full lights or in strong sun.
  • GG Mono will kill mites on contact - if you are using beneficial predators, apply via roots only.
  • Bee kind: if polinators are around, apply via roots only to avoid any possible harm.

Organic usage:

Grow Genius mono-silicic acid is not an organic product, but it is compatible with mycorrhizae and bacteria friendly growing techniques at the application rates we recommend. Silicon is not harmful to most beneficial microorganisms and low levels of ethanols are digestible by many soil borne bacteria and fungi. But above all, because our mono-silicic is so concentrated, net addition of product to the soil is tiny: just 0.03ml/L in solution. This is the benefit of treating trace elements as they should be: like vitamins, not food. Mono-silicic (also known as Orthosilicic / monosilicic acid) has powerful effects at very small dosages meaning less chemical inputs and better outcomes for your plants.

Warning:

Close container securely immediately after use: ethanol evaporates quickly!

Apply to plants within a day of mixing for maximum effectiveness: monosilicic acid separates from the ethanol carriers on contact with water - it becomes active but also begins to polymerise into less active forms over the following week.

Do not allow any water or dirt into the container: GG mono will re-polymerise on contact. Use a blunt needle syringe, pipette or other appropriate measuring equipment to measure out the required dosage (included with the 10ml size).

Contains ethanols and silicon: safe for plants when used as directed, but not for direct contact with humans: do not ingest, breathe or allow contact with eyes/skin.

Always avoid breathing mist from spraying this or any garden product: always wear an appropriately rated mask, eye and hand protection when working with garden chemicals.
